THE SCOOP ABOUT MEMBERS

This has been a rough month for CVR.  The passing of Sandy Watkins’ mother and John Johnson’s mother saddened us along with the loss of one of our own, George Conklin.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the families. 

In addition to all this, Lloyd Cliff ended up in the hospital and we hope he and Ken Wilson will get on the quick road to recovery.  Cards for Lloyd Cliff may be sent to his home address according to a young woman assisting the family “if you care to cheer up the clown”.

One more item that should be noted is that the Hisers missed the first week of displaying their car at the Big E due to their antique car getting in an accident.  Thankfully, Ed and Emma weren’t in the car at the time, but there was still enough damage that the car needs some repairs.  Believe it or not, the car was parked in their driveway.  Does anyone know of a place to get a 1939 Buick back bumper? 

One more thing – Dotty and Benny Baronas are expecting 3 new great-grandchildren over the next few months, one of them being Mary Baronas’s first grandchild.  I guess along with the bad news, we also need the good news too…… By the time this comes out in print, they should be proud great-grandparents of Emily Grace who is due any day now.

Subject: Meeting with the vendors and hotel staff

When: Saturday, Oct 14th 2006, 10 AM—4 PM

Where: CROWNE PLAZA, Pittsfield Mass

During this meeting we will get a chance to see the hotel and its features. We will also talk to and meet some of the local venues for our tours and activities committees.

 DUES

It has come to our attention that some members have stopped receiving the Winding Road.  There is a good reason for this.  If we didn’t record your dues, the newsletter stops.

We publish a Directory of Members that gets mailed out to all the current members in April.  At this point we try to have everyone included.  If you paid your dues after mid-March, you would have missed the last couple of newsletters and not been in the Directory.  It should be noted that current members in good standing should submit their dues to Treasurer Joe Pereira, who maintains the master list.  All new members get their new membership application from the Membership Chairperson, Art Baskins.  Arthur Baskins and Mora in his office did an outstanding job recording all the new members.  Over this last year we had 6 different people collecting dues and under those circumstances things have gotten a little mixed up.  If we missed you on the mailing list, we apologize.  Hopefully, this will clarify where you should send your dues in the future.

Coming up on October 22nd, CVR’s own Joe Periera will be sponsoring a terrific Oldies Legends Show featuring five of the areas top entertainers:

Tickets can be purchased directly through the Huke Lau Restaurant, 705 Memorial Drive, Chicopee, MA 01020 (413-593-5222).  The ticket price is $20 per person.  A dinner menu and alcoholic beverages are available at an additional cost.
