 AACA TOUR UPDATE

The Board of Director’s approved funds for anticipated deposit monies needed for the AACA Tour.  Note this money will all be reimbursed back to CVR at the end of the tour with the registration fees for the tour.

The Board of Directors, along with the AACA Committees, have been invited by the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Pittsfield, MA on October 7, 2006 to meet with the Chamber of Commerce and various museums and Tanglewood to try to plan a top class event.  Keith Korbut and Jerre Hoffman have done a tremendous job on the hotel accommodations by getting the following fees waived: Hospitality Suite - $400., Ballroom $1,000., Top Floor Suite - $500 and no charge for the podium and microphone.  We will also be putting the 1893 Duryea in the lobby of the hotel for the event.  We hope to get Joe Pereira’s band in for the closing banquet – a little arm-twisting from the membership is in order!

In 2007, the Crowne Plaza will allow the committee to stay at the hotel for their cost – roughly $40. a night to put the final touches on the Tour.  We have secured 100 rooms for this event and can take as many as 125, but that’s the max.

 URGENT LEGISLATIVE ALERT (UPDATE)

Pro-Hobbyist Massachusetts Street Rod and Custom Vehicle Bill to be Considered by Full House of Representatives.

SEMA model legislation (H.B. 2212) that would create a vehicle registration classification for street rods and custom vehicles and provide for special license plates for these vehicles was approved by the Massachusetts Joint Transportation Committee.  H.B. 2212 defines a street rod as an altered vehicle manufactured before 1949 and a custom as an altered vehicle at least 25 years old and manufactured after 1948.  The bill allows kit cars and replica vehicles to be assigned a certificate of title bearing the same model year designation as the production vehicle they most closely resemble.  H.B. 2212 will now be considered by the full Massachusetts House of Representatives.

We Urge You to Contact ALL Members of the Massachusetts House Immediately to Request Their Support for H.B. 2212.

· H.B. 2212 provides specific registration classes and license plates for street rods and customs.

· H.B. 2212 exempts street rods and customs from emissions inspections.

· H.B. 2212 only holds street rods and customs to the equipment standards specified by law during the model year listed on the title of the vehicle.

· H.B. 2212 provides that a replica vehicle will be assigned the same model year designation as the production vehicle it most closely resembles.

· H.B. 2212 permits street rods and custom vehicles to display blue dot taillights.

DO YOU KNOW YOUR HUB CAPS?

Dwight Tiffany from Holyoke, MA, who is almost 80 years old, asked if anyone knows what a 6" hub cap might go on?  He believes it to have come off a spoke wheel and it has markings on it of WD V6.  He thinks it might be from a car around the 1930's.  He has researched the Wills Night and also the White Truck diesel with no success.

Does anyone know what this might go to?  If so, call Dwight at 413-532-3395.

 5th ANNUAL WINDSOR HIGH/ CVR

CAR SHOW

Friday, May 19

We started something – they want us for another show!

I didn’t expect this to happen this year, but I received a call on Friday -- we have been invited back to the 5th Annual Windsor High School/CVR Car Show on Friday, May 19.  They have formed the Windsor High School Auto Club and are very proud of their accomplishments.  This all started because our club wanted to get the next generation involved in and understanding the preservation of automobiles.  Looks like we have accomplished this!

Besides the cars from CVR there are town’s people/students that bring their vehicles and the school brings in D.A.R.E. and military vehicles.  We are hoping we can have a good cross section of our cars at the show this year.  Send me the following information, either by mail or email.  Your choice, but I hope you have enough time to clear your calendars and participate in this great club activity – getting the next generation involved in our hobby!  They feed us too (coffee when we arrive and lunch)!

NEEDED INFORMATION:  Your Name; Year & Make of Your Car; Your Address and Telephone Number along with Your E-Mail Address (if you have one).   Return to: Anita/Ed Mips, 14 Dudley Town Rd., Windsor CT 06095-2635.

Email: WindsorAMM@aol.com

Reserve, Friday, May 19, 2006 for the Annual WHS/CVR Car Show.
